1980 Mr. Olympia
SPECIAL EDITION DIGITALLY REMASTERED
Held October 4th, 1980 at the Opera House in Sydney, Australia. This is the contest in which Arnold made his “comeback” after five years of retirement, and gained his seventh Mr. Olympia title.
Besides Arnold, the line up also included Mike Mentzer, Chris Dickerson, Frank Zane, Boyer Coe, Roy Duval, Casey Viator, Roy Callender, Ken Waller, Samir Bannout, Tom Platz, Danny Padilla, Roger Walker, etc. Includes some prejudging footage plus the evening show posing routines and final award to Arnold.
The most controversial and the most popular Mr. Olympia video of all time! Strictly a hard core contest video showing all competitors, and quite different to the video called “The Comeback”.
My very special thanks to contest promoter PAUL GRAHAM for bringing this wonderful Olympia event to Australia and for allowing me to shoot the film of the event for posterity. For this, all fans of bodybuilding will be eternally grateful.
Photo right taken of Arnold during the Prejudging. The IFBB on-stage official in Dennis Stallard of Wales, a former Mr. Britain winner from 1951.
To better illustrate this HISTORIC video, we made a huge separate PHOTO GALLERY PAGE, with Arnold and many of the other competitors including group shots.

1980 Mr. Olympia: Part 2
The Lost Footage is an extra 22 minutes including footage from the prejudging plus the posedown and awards, from 6th to 1st place.
It also contains some ‘lost footage’ which is primarily from the prejudging, and now edited together with our own unused footage. Thirteen of the sixteen competitors are shown as they walk on stage. Next you will see the Round 1 lineup, 1/4 turns and then groups of quarter turns. Enjoy the highly competitive comparative compulsory poses in various groups, including Arnold next to Mike. Plus Boyer Coe, Zane, Callender and more. Frank Zane feels that this footage is some of the best ever footage depicting his condition at this stage of his career.
There’s brief posing sequences by REG PARK (guest poser), PADILLA, COE, ARNOLD, WALKER, CALLENDER, MENTZER, EMMOTT, BANNOUT, ZANE, DICKERSON, TINERINO, PLATZ & VIATOR. Finally the exciting top seven pose-down after some more compulsory poses. Then the complete awards from 6th place through to Arnold in 1st place. The top 7 existed as there was a tie between Walker and Callender till they were re-judged with 6th place finally going to Roger Walker.
SOUND TRACK NOTES ETC.
Our video is a digitally remastered film to DVD transfer, with some music added in places. Mostly some live ORIGINAL MUSIC soundtrack can be heard in the background, with special voice-over comments from Wayne Gallasch who filmed this historic contest on super 8 film. Being that the contest was shot almost 40 years ago on 8 mm film, the best technology available to Wayne at the time, this is an historic DVD and not meant to be a state of the art, modern day video production – such as those now shot on HD video.
This is very rare footage of an incredible event, not available anywhere else. Please regard it as a true collector’s item and enjoy it for what it is.

Customer Comments:
Hello Wayne, It’s Steve Buccilli again.
I received the 1980 Mr. Olympia DVD (2 disc set). As I watched it tears almost came to my eyes. What a great thing you have done for the sport to preserve the memories and contest on footage.
Its amazing to see how the sport has progressed, but at the same time how impressive the guys in that show where.
Even though they were 25 to 60 lbs (or 12.5 kg, to 27 kg) lighter then today’s athletes they still impressed me. Not only that but its my opinion that they looked better. No distended guts, and the posing routines were all majestic.
Then it hit me. You were there! You got to see it! Its my opinion that you have lived a charmed life.
I cannot thank you and your family, and your company enough for doing what you have done. If I ever win $1,000,000.00 I’ll buy your entire stock of DVDs and videos!
Thanks again, Wayne.
