Remembering Wilhelm Hauck: 1951 – 2021  RIP
Mr Germany – Mr Europe

Wilhelm Hauck was a German Bodybuilding Legend. It all started when he was born on the 17th of January 1951 in Alzey (formerly: Weinheim), Germany.

Subsequently he became well respected as an electronics technician. He loved physical hard work and so he also worked for many years as a scaffolder.

In 1969 he began to work out in a cellar, where a blacksmith had barbells, dumbells and other self-made training machines. His first BB competition was in 1975, where he placed 4th in the heavyweight class. That was only the beginning.  During his long career, he was twice European Champion (1991 – single and couple), 4 times German national champion (1982, 1985 and twice 1991 – single and couple) and 7 times German federal states/provinces champion.

His greatest BB contest results were:
1980 IFBB Mr. International (a forerunner from the Arnold Classics), 3rd in the heavyweight class.
1981 IFBB European Amateur Championships, 6th in the heavyweight class.
1981 IFBB German Championships, 2nd in the heavyweight class (the winner was Franz Bach).
1982 IFBB German Championships, winner of the heavyweight class and Overall title.
(Second was Ralf Möller).  (He also defeated in this contest overall posedown Hermann Hoffend, the winner of the lightweight class).
1984 IFBB European Amateur Championships, 4th in the heavyweight class.
1985 BDB German Championships, winner of the heavyweight class and overall winner.
1985 NABBA European championships, finalist of the heavyweight class.
1991 BDB German Championships, winner of the heavyweight class and overall winner, also winner of the couple class with Olympia Kiss.
1991 WABBA European Championships, winner of the Masters over 40 and the couple class with Olympia Kiss.

In 1986 he founded a gym in Dillingen, Germany, and coached and prepared a large number of male and female athletes. They enjoyed great contest success.

Together with several other bodybuilding personalities he founded WABBA Germany in 1993, where he was the president. In this period he promoted many contests, continuing on up until his death at the age of 70.

Wilhelm was not only a very good president, contest promoter, trainer, presenter, linkman, judge and referee. He was also a champion bodybuilder on the stage, and understood every aspect of the sport.

Away from the contest scene, Wilhelm was a very kind, sincere and generous person and a good husband. In 2016 he married his wife Carmen Käser-Hauck and they were very happy together. (We thank his wife Carmen and Stefan Wichmann for supplying this information and the many photographs seen in the Photo Gallery. The photographic material is mostly all copyright Carmen Käser-Hauck).

When Wilhelm died from cancer on the 17th of November 2021 at his home in Augsburg, Germany, it was his beloved wife who cared for him with love and devotion in his final months.

Carmen is a successful bodybuilder herself, and trains regularly to this day. In 2015 she won the WABBA Ms. Universe contest and the WABBA German and International Championships.
